ACE - A Little About What We Do

The Art Cover Exchange (ACE) promotes art, philately, friendship and correspondence among its members. The special emphasis of the group is in the artistic presentation of postal covers for exchange.

The new year has been slow for ACE mail, but a few ACE covers made their way to my mailbox.  I'm always grateful!  ACE mail making its way to members' mailboxes is the primary function of the group.  Quite a number of terrific covers arrived here over the past couple of months, including quite a few first day covers.  This month, I selected a cover that reflected two types of covers. The first, as mentioned, this cover is a first day cover from 1962.  It commemorated the Project Mercury space mission flown by John Glenn.  The second type of cover depicted here is a "memorial cover" (note the black border around the actual cover).  The second stamp (from the relatively recent Star Trek issue) was postmarked on December 8, 2016, the date marking Glenn's death.  And, obviously, the cachet design is one related to John Glenn and some of his accomplishments.  I felt that this cover from ACE 393 was deserving to be our web site's Cover of the Month!

The Art Cover Exchange is a proud affiliate of the American Philatelic Society (APS) - Affiliate 243, as well as a chapter of the American First Day Cover Society (AFDCS) - Chapter 79
